Merde alors!
A headline in the Journal de Montréal :
Maxime Bernier et la bullshitWell, maybe a bit of a cow pat. Now if one reads to the end of the story one finds (my translation):
Haji Fazal also expressed his sadness at seeing so many Canadian lives lost in his country. "The work you are doing on our behalf is appreciated. I personally will always remember the smile of Capt. Nichola Goddard..."Meanwhile, Terry Glavin gets religion and compares Canadian media coverage in general with that of Michael Den Tadt of the mighty The Sun Times of Owen Sound, Ontario.
2 Comments:
Compare and contrast with the last line in the Globe story: "Thank you for your work," she said, "and little cakes for you."
At least the soldiers might get to eat them.
"Visits by politicians to the front lines have served mostly to give them media exposure.."
Not that there was much "front line" time involved. But visits by ministers might at least make soldiers think that their government, which has sent them into battle, has some interest in them, all photo ops aside.
Thanks goodness Denis the Thug was not at the front line. Though some macabre thoughts occur on bifurcated consequences had he ended up there.
