A sad affair

There is still much for the public to learn about in this affair, but I have to admit to sympathizing with the C.O. of a boat whose Cox'n is part of, if not complicit in the problem. As the senior NCM onboard, the betrayal of trust and responsibility of this person is monumental. (PS. - the title of the article is yet another example of how little research is done by today's reporters)

VICTORIA - Lt.-Cmdr. Jeffrey White, the former commanding officer of HMCS Saskatoon, said Robert Carlson apologized and showed remorse after being picked up in an undercover military operation in January 2006 and charged with trafficking cocaine.

"He felt sorry for letting me down as a person because as my coxswain, he's one of my No. 1 guys aboard ship to deal with disciplinary issues, to be the morale person," White said Wednesday outside court at CFB Esquimalt.

gee . . . showing remorse, AFTER being caught.

Too bad, so sad. His rank and position means he knew what he was supposed to do. He failed his ship, his crew, his captain and himself.

Will anyone ever trust him enough to serve with him ?

Not me.
