Canadian military procurement madness: The TAPV?

Spend more to assemble it here instead of buying from the original equipment manufacturer. Earlier:

As for the TAPV, two posts here to recap, plus one from Mr Pugliese:
More on new armoured vehicles

Wanted (by 2015): As Many as 600 Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicles for CF

IS GENERAL DYNAMICS AND THE OSHKOSH MRAP THE TEAM TO BEAT ON THE CANADIAN FORCES TACTICAL ARMORED PATROL VEHICLE?
Joint Oshkosh/GDLS-Canada news release here. Given the GDLS-Canada (London, Ont.) role, does anyone really think any contract won't be effectively (the supposedly dreaded) sole-source?
Now more from Mr Pugliese's Ottawa Citizen blog:
The military trade show CANSEC, coming to Ottawa June 2 and 3, will be where companies highlight the latest products they are trying to convince DND and the Canadian Forces to purchase [more here].

Expect the various contenders for the Close Combat Vehicle project and the Tactical Armoured Vehicle program to be out in force with various vehicles.

Oshkosh Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada have teamed up to pursue the TAPV and Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) [more here] programs. The firms plan to display both the Oshkosh MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) and the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) [more here] at the trade show.

The partnership of Oshkosh and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada GD could present strong team in the running for both projects, industry sources told Defence Watch. Of course the product and price being offered is key. But industrial benefits are also a major factor so it will be interesting to see how much of the work would be done by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada [emphasis added].

The M-ATV delivers MRAP-level protection and superior mobility for operations on rugged, mountainous terrain and unimproved road networks, according to the companies...
