Fox off!

Damian Penny posts about a disgusting piece of early morning "comedy" on Fox News Red eye:

Stay classy, Gutfeld

Funny, how this hilarious discussion doesn't mention that 116 Canadian soldiers have given their lives doing some of the toughest fighting in Afghanistan. Not that Red Eye viewers - or, apparently, hosts - should be expected to know such a minor little detail...

Watch it and retch, hurl, puke, whatever:

Sometimes, some Americans really do make one wonder...

Update consideration: Not that Canadians--some in supposedly responsible positions--aren't themselves sometimes utter jackasses about the US:

Just to be fair and balanced, in fact we do it a hell of a lot more often.

Babbler's Update: Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive weighs in:

Red Eye on FOX is occasionally hilarious and provides a perfect venue for Patty Anne Brown to flex her potty mouth. But the problem with any show hosted by a narcissistic runt is he will eventually step out of his pee wee league. That was Greg Gutfeld this week talking smack about the Canadian military. They appear to be prepping to take an operational break to rest and refit and Gut-less-feld seems to feel this opens them up to his weak ass mockery. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working or fighting with our northern neighbors would immediately know what a douche Gutfeld is. The Canadians kick ass and have sent plenty of jihadis on to their 72 Goat reward. Although he didn't know it when he was running his cake, his timing was even more excremental as the Canadians lost four men Friday in A-stan. So get back in your high chair Greg and have a big heapin' spoonful of STFU!

Given the fact that Blackfive is one of the most well respected milblogs on the planet, and given the fact that Uncle Jimbo is from the U.S. Special Op's community, and given the fact that his expression of disgust with the Fox twits is much more representative of the views of our American brethren in uniform - those who have served alongside Canadian troops - than that of the "comedians," I'm going to take the shots for what they're worth: precisely zilch.

This is a fart in a hurricane, folks.

I saw this after someone I know tweeted the link. "Comedy News" has become a standard across the political spectrum but even the worst would know to stay away from making fun an ally - and one of only a few - actively fighting at your side.
Liberty, including free speech, should be valued above all. It looks like they spent less time thinking about that than they spent considering their coffee order.

Man up, gentlemen. If your feelings are hurt by some good natured taunting, it says more about you than your tormentor.

P.S. If you want to feel better about your Canadian manhood, watch Gutfeld ridicule Belgium just about every other night.

DFP21,

Nonsense. Nativist bigotry isn't amusing, especially on a day when 4 Canadian boys gave their lives for their nation.

I'm with Raphael. This wasn't good natured taunting. It was a disgusting display of ignorance and callous disrespect for the Canadian Forces generally, and the brave men and women who have died fighting for Afghanistan and for Canada, specifically.

No "hurt feelings" here. More like pure blind rage. I suspect there are not a few American patriots who watched Gutfeld and felt much the same thing.

One of the comedians who appeared on this bit, Greg Benson, is currently scheduled to appear at the Comic Strip in Edmonton from April 2nd to the 5th. That would be Edmonton, Alberta, home to the 3 PPCLI.

Nonsense. How many times have you seen Canadians make similar jokes about the yanks? Quit your whining.

Sure, it's ignorant and not particularly funny, but it's based on a valid criticism - how can we expect to be taken seriously as a nation if we can't even maintain a 3,000 man battle force? It's disgraceful. I'm a lot more pissed at the idiots in our government who let us get to this point than I am at these Fox goons for making crude jokes. As "dfp21" said, man up. All this whining and complaining is just making us look even more pathetic.

Or four farts, creating malodorous airwaves. Juvenile-minded twerps, with "humor" and "wit" unworthy of notice by adults.

There was no connection between this comment and the tragedy in Afghanistan.

The segment appeared 3 days before the Canadian soldiers were killed and any attempt to connect the two is either ignorance of the timeline or an attempt to incite backlash from those who are two lazy to look things up for themselves.
