Maj Louis Lapointe
In my last For Valour post about decorated CF members, you'll recall that I made special note of Major Louis Lapointe, who was to be decorated twice: with the Medal of Military Valour and also with the Meritorious Service Medal.
Well, here's a picture of the officer in question, with his two new gongs and the lady who pinned them on him:
As it turns out, this isn't the first time Lapointe has impressed those around him:
Maj Lapointe is now easily my favourite individual from Shawinigan. Bravo Zulu!

As one of only six Canadians chosen this year to face the challenge of the American Ranger Course, Captain Louis Lapointe not only returned as a successful graduate, but also as the recipient of two impressive awards rarely captured by Canadian candidates: the Ralph Puckett and the William O. Darby awards.
...
By the end of the course, Capt Lapointe's outstanding performance earned him the title of Class Honor Graduate, receiving the Ralph Puckett award for top officer candidate.
His exemplary leadership abilities and sustained dedication proved to be worthy of the William O. Darby award for the Distinguished Honor Graduate. This award is given only on occasion when an Honor Graduate has displayed near faultless and flawless skill and ability throughout the entire course and has a high standing amongst course peers.
Maj Lapointe is now easily my favourite individual from Shawinigan. Bravo Zulu!

I concur on that BZ and second it.
He is some soldier.
A few years ago there was only one member in the Canadian military who was Ranger qualified. He also came away with an award that isn't necessarily given on each course. The remarkable thing was that this person was a reservist corporal although he did subsequently transfer to the Regular Force.
IBM, do you have a name to go with that story? I love giving public recognition to keen soldiers, sailors, and airmen.
Wow, a Soldier's Soldier and a man to be reckoned with! Well done, Major Lapointe!
(And I'm curious also. Who was this Super-Corporal and did the Army have the sense to send him to Officer's School?)
not bad for an ossifer
