Although the Afghan mission is still a source of controversy among Canadians, we believe the country feels an unalloyed pride in the capability, determination, and demeanour that the men and women of the Canadian Forces display in Afghanistan each day.

For this Hillier deserves a considerable share of the credit. He'll retire with honour and with the thanks of his country.
