Reflections on The Torch

When Babbling created this blog there was minimal coverage in the major media of Canadian military matters (I think his motive)--so there was good reason for a blog to work the virtual void.

Now, as I think the last few days at a minimum have shown, there is almost an excess of major media stories. As to how "good" or well-informed they are...

Regardless of what one might think of the views expressed by authors at this blog, I think an awful lot of information is also presented to inform readers--so they may draw conclusions on issues themselves. That, to my mind, actually is "journalism" (though certainly not "reporting").

Update: I should have noted that Babbling actually does some pretty good reporting.

Amen.

We don't claim to know all or be all, simply to help inform.

For far too long the CF has toiled in obscurity, with Damian's launch of The Torch, that obscurity is harder to sustain.

I'm honoured to have been invited to blog here and do my bit to help raise the profile of the CF to average Canadians. Agree, disagree, that's your right, just never ignore the people who serve ever again.

what bbs just said, times two.

More than just raising the profile of the CF, this blog has been the leader in taking reporters and journalists to the woodshed for some well well deserved ass-whupping when they have needed it.

How many times have you fisked the crap they print in their newspapers about the CF, about equipment acquisitions, about missions ??

BZ, boys, a great big BZ
