Mayor Larry O'Brien wants City of Ottawa staff to show their support for the men and women on the HMCS Ottawa.

O'Brien is inviting all city employees to sign a 10-foot-by-2-foot banner with the vessel's name and the city logo on it.

O'Brien says every other city had been providing support to the ships named after them.

The banner will be brought to several locations across the city to give employees a chance to sign it.

The HMCS Ottawa is currently patrolling the Arabian Sea.
