"Ego and ammo isn't [sic] our style"

The Globe's sainted Salutin is selective with his facts (full text not officially online).
...United Kingdom Foreign Minister [no he's not - MC] Kim Howells needed to visit Ottawa to explain: "It's what we had to do in Northern Ireland. We had to talk to people who...were terrorists...If you don't do it...you won't succeed." That's the voice of experienced empire...
What Mr Salutin ignores:
'Get real' about terror, Dion told
British minister [Howells] blasts Afghan withdrawal plan, says NATO needs to see it through
Then there's the question of who is truly European:
...you back off, like the Europeans, knowing it's a situation that's bound to go wrong...
Are the following who are fighting in the south not Euros--Brits, Danes, Estonians, Dutch and Romanians (with the Poles soon to have a combat role in the east)?

Finally, the obligatory anti-Americanism:
We will remain tarred with the American imperial brush in Afghanistan...
As part of a NATO mission unanimously authorized by the UN Security Council?

Rather rickety on reality our Mr Salutin. No doubt he has been chatting with Mr Doyle.
