We used to allow landed immigrants to join the Canadian military
A good letter argues that we should resume the practice (with what are now called "permanent residents").
"To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high."

My grandfather emigrated from the Bahamas in 1948, and as I understand it, got into Canada only after signing on to be an RCAF officer at the Canadian High Commission in Nassau. He served in Korea, flew some pretty hairy missions over the North Atlantic, and eventually retired with two pips on his CD.
The issue shouldn't be whether the CF can sign up landed immigrants, it's which immigrants to sign up.
The Maple Leaf, of course. If you serve under it, you should have the privilege of being buried under it.
And the coffin should be accompanied by a citizenship certificate.
and a big fucking thank you from every living Canadian
