And now for something completely different

A letter of mine in the Ottawa Citizen:
Mention moose milk

Re: Tradition draws Canadians to decadent holiday cocktails, Dec. 9,

When I read this Citizen story, I was amazed and disappointed that no mention was made of the one really Canadian traditional example of decadent Christmas cheer: Moose Milk, a drink that originated with the Canadian military.

It is one recipe for those willing to damn the calories, full speed ahead.

The ingredients are: 12 eggs (use only the yolks); good Canadian whisky: 40 ounces; dark rum: 40 ounces; Kahlua: five ounces; maple syrup: 10 ounces; milk (homogenized only): 40 ounces; heavy whipping cream (not canned): 40 ounces and sugar: one cup.
