Afghan detainees: Parliament is a farce
This afternoon the current and preceding MND, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, appeared at the Commons' Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan. The meeting was interrupted by one vote in the Commons itself and terminated by another. In the end the ministers got to finish their prepared statements and not even two full ten minute rounds of opposition questioning were completed before the session stopped.
Is that any way for our country's legislature to consider a major issue? Can MPs not find some way to put substance (such as it barely is in their treatment) over procedure?
A farce about which I am in no way amused. Banana dominion.
