2009 Canada Army Run: Ottawa, Sunday, Sept. 20

Just to jog minds:
WELCOME TO THE 2009 CANADA ARMY RUN

It’s great to have you join us! And, whether you’re running the ½-marathon or 5K, we know you’re in for a very special experience!

Not only do the courses take you past scenic sites of Canada’s Capital – which is beautiful in September – Canada Army Run is unlike any other run in the country.

Last year, in fact, this sold-out event shattered records for the largest number of entrants for an inaugural run. 7000 civilians and military troops ran, walked, or wheeled – side by side – along spectator-filled streets and raised tens of thousands of dollars for Soldier On and the Military Families Fund. We’re expecting this year’s event to be even bigger and better!

From the cannon used as a “starter’s pistol” to the “dog-tag” medals all participants receive, this unique event is “military” from start to finish and includes:

A Salute to Injured Soldiers at the start of both runs

 Canada Army Veterans Motorcycle team

 Governor General`s Foot Guards Band

 Cameron Highlanders Pipes and Drums

 Field-kitchen-style pasta dinner

Two dozen Generals at the start line

More than anything, though, Canada Army Run, is about civilians and the Canadian Forces – Air Force, Army, and Navy – joining together in the spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect. It’s a chance for the troops to extend the military esprit de corps to civilians and to thank them for their support. And, it’s an opportunity for civilians to say thanks to the Canadian men and women who serve them in so many ways at home and abroad.

RACE T-SHIRTS

All entrants will receive a distinctive long-sleeved technical running shirt that features the CADPAT Canadian camouflage pattern.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 20th!
