Boosting our special forces

Further to this post,
Direct recruiting of civilians for CANSOFCOM?
this should certainly help recruiting (internal, and perhaps external in future) and especially retention--a real issue given what private security firms will pay SOF types:
Hundreds of special forces soldiers to get pay raise

The phrase is "market value", of which trained, experienced Special Forces types have an enormous amount.

From what I've read here, at Strategy Page and elsewhere, there's lots of six-figure-paying jobs out there for SF types. An extra $8-18k a year may be an inadequate bonus structure, considering the income potential elsewhere. Soldiers with a relatively low number of years in service and soldiers at the other end of the spectrum, able to retire now with a pension, wouldn't -I'm admittedly guessing here- stay in for an extra $8-18k when they can double or triple their salary in the private market.

Commments, anybody?
