Through the judicial looking glass

Not to put too fine a point on it, the uniform of a police officer is highly symbolic as well, and represents an authority some in court - the criminals, for example - find uncomfortable. Is the judge going to order police to forgo their uniforms too?

Ontario Court Justice Margaret Woolcott needs to sort herself out. (ht:SDA)

It's a symbol of the officers job. Given that they are there in their capacity as police officers it makes no sense to worry about that.

My point is that if the poppy is authorized for wear on the uniform (and when I was in the military, it was actually compulsory to wear from the beginning of November through Remembrance Day), the judge has no business chastising the officer for wearing it.

That was your point?

Your SDA influenced rant about uniforms in court muddied that a bit didn't it?
