How we die, and why

Some useful statistics below from the Globe and Mail; this year IEDs seem to be virtually the sole successful killing tactic of the Taliban. From this I conclude that we have had overwhelming operational success against them. They seem to have concluded that if they just keep killing some more Canadians (especially in bunches), regardless of the lack of real impact on our operations, they will win. And it appears that they have almost done so. Canadian public opinion is their target and they are zeroed.

1) "CAUSE OF DEATH" (end of link)

2) "MILITARY VEHICLES: NONE CAN GUARANTEE SAFETY" (deaths by vehicle type; the Globe confuses "casualties" with "fatalities")

3) "Deaths by province" (end of link)

And a useful chart showing troop contributions in Afstan by country and their fatalities (Poles, delayed going operational, are not listed).

Update: More on "why".
