"Pro Patria"
Inspired by the art of classical antiquity, Silvia Pecota created this image entitled, "Pro Patria", (For Country) as an allegory.
Canada is represented by a young,
noble figure standing on a solid rock separating two oceans, symbolic of our national motto,
"A Mari Usque Ad Mare" (From Sea To Sea).
No matter how many storms we, as Canadians must endure, we will stand "strong and free".
This image was initially printed as a postcard and dedicated to our soldiers, sailors and aircrew
who have placed themselves in harm's way in the service of peace.

Young noble figure? Is that a typo? Looks like it should nubile.
(Okay, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.)
louise, I've been biting my tongue but you've opened the gate, I'm very sorry if this offends anyone, but this looks like van art. All that's missing is some barbarian dude with an axe.
How about a guy with a tomahawk?
(I'm no art critic, but fwiw, I happen to like the piece.)
BB: I happen to like the piece.
==================
Um. I think that's what it's meant for. It's not aimed at art critics. It's meant for men to look at and drool. LOL!!
sheesh!,,,,,,,just because it's a pretty young woman wrapped in a flag doesn't relegate this piece of art to the 'pin-up' category.
Would a fat old woman, or man, make it more appropriate?
The piece is meant to pleasing to the eye, deliver a message, and not offend. Obviously, this falls on deaf ears and is symbolic of why Canada seems to be ashamed of her warriors.
Get a grip on reality, naysayers......Try to be PROUD Canadians, instead of looking for fault with all things military or patriotic.
Yes, you're right, that's what we're all doing. Crapping all over Canada and the military. yep.
