They just don't get it
Not to be outdone by Fortier, Foreign Affairs Minister (and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) Peter MacKay wants to stick his oar in the water. The message to him is the same as the others. Lobby for your region AFTER the contract has been signed with NO PRE-CONDITIONS on where the work is to be completed in Canada.
Help your region present the best business case to Boeing for placing their business there.
Sign the damn deal.
The article notes that the item is set for Cabinet committee discussion tomorrow. Take some time and let Cabinet know what you think.

MacKay joins call for Boeing to spread benefits
DANIEL LEBLANC
From Tuesday's Globe and Mail
OTTAWA — Foreign Minister Peter MacKay has joined the intense lobbying to persuade Boeing Co. to spread out the economic benefits flowing from the military's planned $3.4-billion purchase of C-17 cargo aircraft.
Industry and government sources said U.S.-based Boeing wants to direct about 30 per cent of the benefits to Ontario and 20 per cent to the West.
Less than 10 per cent has been allocated to the Atlantic provinces so far.
While some benefits have yet to be allocated, Quebec would likely be left with 30 per cent.

Dear Parliamentarians,
Please read these posts at "The Torch", and please just buy the aircraft. The Canadian Forces deserve to get the equipment they need with as little politics as possible.

Military contracts should not be job creation programs. That's what got us the Iltis.
Mr Harper...remember the ghost of CF-18 maintenance...
I will immediately follow through with this e-mail to the MPs.
Good post!
Right on!
Plus ça change ... Typical regional whining with Quebec and Atlantic Canada at the forefront.
I'll be adding my email to the chorus.
Whoever thought I'd find myself in agreement with Gary Doer?
