Three cheers for Athabaskan!

My former warship, HMCS Athabaskan, the one I served in (we serve in ships, not on them) during work ups to the first Gulf War in 1990, has made a great splash in the media over the past 24 hours rescuing stranded and shipwrecked Nova Scotians north of Bermuda.
HMCS Athabaskan had been operating in the region as part of an experiment, involving the Canadian naval task group, an air expeditionary unit and a landing force all working together, to explore the possibility of integrating a seaborne and sea-based combat force.
For these lucky Maritimers, talk about being in the wrong situation at the right place at the right time.
