Deeds, more than words...

...win hearts and minds, people.

Update: From comments, we learn of the sad ending to this story:

An Afghan boy who received medical treatment through the generosity of Canadian soldiers and an Edmonton church, has passed away.

But my point about 'hearts and minds' remains unchanged, since it is the effort and not the results that have earned the Canadians some respect:

Namatullah's grandfather said their family, friends and townspeople were overwhelmed by the generosity and thankful to the Canadians who had adopted his cause.

It started out as a beautiful story.

What is going on here?

Iran releases a thorn in their side, [dissident writer Ganji], and now , Libyan *thorn*, Fathi Eljhmi, after serving eighteen months of a 5 year term in Libya*s Abu Salim prision, is being released.

What has prompted Moammar Gadhafi to be so …shrinking violet?

I type this into a WPS window over the www.defenddemocracy.org page trying to get some of this spelling approximately correct and looking at Fathi Eljahmi*s picture.

These dissident writers are the king pins of hope for oppressed people. They are the Lech Walesas, Andrei Sakharovs, and Aung SanSuu Kyis of the world., [ Stealing from the article now].

What pressures Bush must be able to apply to Gadhafi, I shudder to imagine.

Oh oh, now I read where Libyan authorities threaten to kidnap his wife and daughters from his home in tripoli. Guess the Bush spell didn’t last. I’ m going back to read the whole thing now. TG

Paul, it still is that same beautiful story. The original goal was that Namatullah die painfree; the thought that he could be cured didn't exist until he was treated at the hospital.

The original goal was met, and Namatullah had the added, and significant, experience of receiving love and care and attention from people he'd never met. I've shed some tears over the little guy, who wouldn't? But his death does not mean failure in this particular instance.

The church that raised the funds continues to collect money toward supporting a children's hospital in Afghanistan. What an incredible legacy this young boy has left.

This info, and speaking to someone in the Credit industry brings sad news.

You are advised to no longer use your card on line. I know I will miss the convenience.

The Visa and Mastercharge people must be taking huge losses, but they dare not tell you and I the truth.

The MSM are quiet, but to get off the hook, they may have a tiny item about it buried in the bowels of the paper.

This is much worse than the [4] million accounts compromised on the errant Arizona server.

MetaFisher Trojan steals bank details
Run by hackers as smart as your IT department

Hackers have been using a Trojan – whose sophistication would put professional IT departments to shame – to quietly steal bank-account details on hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide.

For weeks, customers of large banks in the UK, Spain and Germany have been duped by phishing emails into installing the MetaFisher Trojan and putting their machines under the control of one of the most sophisticated *botnets* known so far.

*This is one of those big, under-the-radar threats that we've been concerned about,* said Ken Dunham, director of the rapid response team at VeriSign's iDefense unit. *There has been a trend away from big-bang attacks to very targeted and sophisticated attacks that take place right under your nose. This is one of them.* 10words TG
