All three service chiefs said they had enough money under the (very long term) "Canada First Defence Strategy". But for how long will that promised money be there?

Army overflowing with recruits, but air force shortActual figures at of May 4, 2010, shown during webcast:
Canadian army, navy and air force chiefs gave starkly different reports to a Senate committee Monday on public enthusiasm to join their ranks.
The army is so overflowing with recruits that there's a waiting list for the infantry and when the Afghanistan mission ends next year many reservists who signed up full time will be pared back to part time.
After years of falling short of recruitment targets, the navy finally exceeded a target in the past year and is feverishly advertising itself to fill jobs.
The air force is short of active and reverse personnel and many hundreds of air force men and women in uniform are not trained yet; as soon as the economy improves many who are trained will go to the private sector.
Those comments by army chief Lt.-Gen. Andrew Leslie, chief of land staff; Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden, chief of maritime staff; and Lt.-Gen. Andre Deschamps, chief of air staff, gave members of the Senate committee on national security and defence a glimpse into the challenges the military faces during the transition to the post-Afghanistan period...
There are more than 61,000 active and reserve forces in the Canadian military.

Which suggests that if Canada had Regular Armed Forces in the same proportion as Australia, the CF would have approx. 50% more personnel, or total Regular Armed Forces of approx. 90,000.
Also, if Canada had Regular Armed Forces in the same proportion as Britain (pop. approx. 60 million; Regular Armed Forces approx. 200,000) Canada would have Regular Armed Forces totaling approx. 103,000.
Also, if Canada had Regular Armed Forces in the same proportion as Denmark (pop. approx 5.5 million; Regular Armed Forces approx. 22,000), Canada would have approx. 125,000 Regular Armed Forces personnel.
For Holland, the figures are pop. approx. 6.1 million; Reg. Armed Forces approx. 61,000 personnel. If Canada had the same pop. and Reg. Armed Forces proportion, Canada would have 305,000 personnel in the Regular Armed Forces.
(I got all these figures from Wiki pages for the countries and those for their respective Armed Forces.)
Dave in Pa.: Actually Netherlands population is 16.5 million,
http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=sp_pop_totl&idim=country:NLD&dl=en&hl=en&q=netherlands+population
1/2 Canada's so per capita forces would be 122,000.
It's the two provinces of Holland that total around 6 million:

Wups, my bad! Thanks for catching my error, Mark. Teaches me to double check my numbers and arithmetic, eh? :-)
BTW, not relevant to this thread, but has Canada taken delivery on any of the new C-130J Stretches yet? (Last reference I read -I think it was here- a month or so back was that the first two were nearly ready for the paint shop, assembly having been almost completed.)
Has flown three months ago Dave--but c'mon search yourself.
Status updates here, have a common thread.
