Three CF service chiefs: Live webcast this afternoon

Via David Pugliese's blog, on until 1900 Eastern; Chief of the Land Staff Lt.-Gen. Leslie was up first, followed by Chief of the Air Staff Lt.-Gen. Watt at 1540 :

The three service chiefs (Lt. Gen. Andrew Leslie, Lt.-Gen. Angus Watt and VAdm. Drew Robertson) are scheduled to appear Monday before the Senate’s Defence committee for what could be a very interesting several hours of testimony [click "View this Clip" here--no archived video]. The committee hopes to get an accurate assessment of the current state of the Army, Navy and Air Force from the three chiefs...

In the past this has been difficult. The view from the senior leadership is generally that it is not their place to provide information that would embarrass the sitting government or the defence minister. In other words, past testimony has been that everything is just great and there are no problems, or that there are very few problems.

The Senate committee has noted their frustration with this in its report last year, “Four Generals and an Admiral.”..
