Hell no, we won't fight!

What might the partners in a new coalition government do about Afghanistan? The Liberals voted to extend Canada's military mission until 2011; the NDP and the Bloc Québécois want our forces out as soon as possible. How can there be a coherent government policy?

A government order to the Canadian Forces to "cease any aggressive actions " and assume a strictly "defensive" posture? Which would render our mission at Kandahar effectively useless in that rough neck of the country. Look at what even M. Dion was saying before the Commons' vote to extend the mission. President-elect Obama, whose good will might just be helpful for Canada, will not be best pleased if my suspicion proves out.

And I shudder for the future of the CF's budget and equipment.

The CF will get utterly corncobbed if this new coalition of the swilling takes power.
