Canada's last turn in command at ISAF Regional Command South

Major-General J.G.M Lessard has turned over command at Kandahar to his Dutch successor Major General Mart de Kruif (more here--note what ISAF commander General David McKiernan said). The period of command has been extended from nine months to one year and Major General de Kruif' will be followed by a British officer; that takes one up to November 2010. Since Canada is scheduled essentially to end our military mission in 2011 I see no chance that a Canadian officer will be in charge at RC South again. And, given that the current Dutch mission is supposed to end in 2010 and the US look likely to send substantially more forces to the south, I think it a fair bet an American will succeed the Brit in command--unless the position becomes exclusively one for the UK.
