Another reason why our media drive me nuts

Their dismissive, almost snearing, tone when referring to military equipment. And these excerpts are from pieces supporting the CF:

Greg Weston in the Sun papers:
...
Our men and women in uniform will be reassured to hear that the Conservative government is planning to replace all of the destroyers, frigates, maritime patrol aircraft, search-and-rescue planes, fighter jets, tanks and other land combat vehicles.

The bad news is a 20-year military plan based on a shopping list of military toys [emphasis added] needed today is interesting, but practically useless...
A National Post editorial:
...
While Monday's announcement by Mr. Harper is largely stitched together from the military spending increases announced by his government since it came to office nearly two-and-a-half years ago, it serves to highlight the different approach on national defence that the Prime Minister has brought to Ottawa. His vision fails to articulate where and how all the new gadgets and gewgaws [emphasis added] his government is buying will be used...
Would our media call new equipment for hospital surgical theatres or diagnostic imaging facilities "toys" or "gadgets and gewgaws"?

Or "a taxpayer" can realize that closer reliance on the US for military matters IS A RESULT of neglect of the armed forces and a smugness of Canadians that they aren't Americans.

"We hate the US", but then rely on them for defence as a result of trying to be "not American" by not spending on defence.

Makes sense? Only to a leftie.

OK, for the record: A Taxpayer seems to think this blog should air his views for him. It's our blog, our rules, and he's not welcome here.

He chooses to continue putting up comments, like the drunk and belligerent guest at a party that refuses to leave even when the hosts ask him to.

I delete his comments whenever I see them now, regardless of their lucidity or lack thereof, simply because he refuses to adhere to the idea that The Torch isn't his forum. It's ours. He's welcome to start his own blog and try to attract his own readership. But he's not welcome to comment here.

So, to the rest of you, please don't respond to him. The comment will be deleted as soon as I see it anyhow.
