U Vic students, stand and be counted
A motion to bar the Canadian Forces from recruiting on the University of Victoria campus in Student controlled spaces was soundly defeated.
It wasn't even close.
Congratulations to all those who turned out to defeat this motion. Best one minute and twenty seconds of video I've watched in a long time.

Outstanding. Not what I would have expected, but outstanding.
We only wish there had been some debate about this issue at Acadia. As we point out in a recent post the University cancelled a proposed military day centred around a recruitment drive. And the Wolfville Town Council apparently shamelessly influenced the University administration against it after a submission at a Town Council meeting by a small pacifist group who suggested having such a day was warmongering propaganda and "inappropriate at an educational institution".
Meanwhile this got a full page in the Ottawa Sun, Oct. 28--plus three photos:
"Keeping the peace
Anti-war protesters brave rainy weather to make their political point
As 100 anti-war protesters descended on downtown yesterday calling on Canada to bring its troops home...'
Yet I haven't seen any coverage (in any of the major media) of the U Vic happenings.
