Congratulations...

...to my friend John Donovan for being selected to make a little piece of blogging history today:

Today, the Armorer and a group of milbloggers participated in a tiny bit of history.

We got to meet the President of the United States. And talk with him for an hour.

With two of us linking in courtesy of the 3rd Infantry Division in Baghdad, we sat down a little before 10AM in the Roosevelt Room of the White House and literally had a chat with the President.

President Bush observed, that as far as he knows, this was the first time that a sitting President had hosted a group of bloggers for a chat at the White House. If that's in fact true - then we got to make a little history today. If it's not true, I'm sure the Peasants with Pitchforks will quickly disabuse us of the notion!

John's further impressions of the meeting can be found here, along with a photo. An hour of Q&A isn't just a grip and grin, either: this is about the President messaging, but it's also about the bloggers influencing. Heady stuff.

Bravo Zulu, JD!

and the same day, The New York Times, the "paper of Record" that sells advertising space at half price to MoveOn.org, hit a new $low and continues to dig. It has become a pathetic excuse for a newspaper. Almost as defeatist & socialist as CBC.

New York Times Company stock below $20
Thomas Lifson
Shares in the New York Times Company fell below the psychologically important $20 mark today, closing down 38 cents, at 19.86, a level it hadn't seen since February, 1997. This represents a 60%+ loss in shareholder value since the peak in 2002.
